Talent Search

I was the founder of the 291 Club, which was founded as a launchpad for up and coming talent.  It was televised and reached a huge audience and launched a wealth of new and exciting talent. I am always coaching and searching for new and upcoming musicians and have the skill set to nurture them into a successful career in the music industry.

Composition

I am highly experienced in composing, performing and editing corporate background music for events or adverts.  From gigs to theatre, radio plays, website music, catwalks, film, television and many other applications where music is required to support live or recorded action.

Publishing

I am a Director of the Song Corporation, a music publishing company with a recording studio which is a multi-track hard disk & analogue recording studio with numerous programmatical editing tools and am able to master and manufacture. I am a specialist in streaming, and recording release procedure and marketing the end product.

Musical Director

A Musical Director for several shows, including the ”291 Club” for LWT, Big Life at Theatre Royal Stratford East, Rapping at the Royal for Channel 4, Nights Out at The Empire for Channel 4 and Baby Father for BBC2. Musical Director for ‘Fences’ starring Lenny Henry at the Duchess Theatre, Directed by Paulette Randall. Worked on productions on BBC Radio 4 with Pam Fraser Solomon.

Bands

A founder member of the band “Total Contrast” which was formed in the ’80s, coming from a background of Reggae this was a move into Dance/ R&B Music. Wrote songs for and produced ‘Tongue ‘n’ Cheek – a British RnB Band signed to EMI. Personally signed to London Records where I  released two albums, with one single “Takes a little time” which achieved a No.1 position in the Dance Chart in America.  Currently, in a range of bands, that perform and record Reggae, Bhangra and RnB.

Composing

I have written and produced for many record labels including a trio called “Tongue N Cheek” which was licensed to EMI Records. I also wrote and produced for Toyin Adekale, Janet Kay, Carroll Thompson and Debbie Allen from ‘Fame’.  I am constantly collaborating with other musicians and exploring new and exciting developments.

Support

The Delroy Murray Band which was created in 1990 supports many major events and artists such as The Four Tops, Janet Kay, Jocelyn Brown Rose Royce, Carroll Thompson, Ken Boothe, Alton Ellis and many other top Jamaican and American acts.

Teaching

Over the years, I have gained a wealth of teaching experiences to a variety of age groups and abilities, working as a mentor for various boroughs around London and the South East. I have enjoyed motivating and encouraging young people through teaching music theory, songwriting, voice training and various musical instruments to young people with different abilities and backgrounds all are always welcomed. I also facilitate after school activities and workshops across a wide range of interests.
